After graduating at Instanbul Conservatory Ahmet Rifat Sungar became soon known to an international audience in the film Three Monkeys by Palme d’Or winner Nuri Bilge Ceylan. He has since received numerous awards and nominations, his films travel to international festivals, and is also seen in high-end tv and streaming projects. Rifat is based in Instanbul and Berlin.

A new release is A Republic Song where Rifat' plays Münir Hayri Egeli, a Turkish writer, filmmaker and sculptor. He was a versatile artist who studied cinema upon Atatürk's request and then became the first to write a libretto in the history of the Republic.
